When looking for historic chateaus and castles to visit, this magnificent fortress is a wonderful option, even though it lies just outside our central area. Note that Buchlov Castle is about 30 kilometers away from the town of Kyjov in the scenic Chřiby Highlands.
Despite the short drive, visiting this ancient fortress is deeply rewarding. The journey leading up to the castle is incredibly atmospheric, especially during the autumn months. You drive through dense deciduous forests completely transformed by breathtaking, vibrant golden and amber foliage. As one of the oldest castles in the country, it offers incredible historical exhibitions, deep medieval dungeons, and ghost legends.
